Not My Thoughts

Writing this morning, I noticed the words appeared to be a random selection of loosely connected thoughts from books, podcasts, and videos I have been consuming over the past few weeks. I was a little taken back at first, then flooded with the realization… “This is NOT good!”

We are both blessed and cursed with information. The tsunami of opinions and half-baked thoughts that flood our every waking hour was unimaginable just a few years ago. Constant consumption of content, no matter how good, competes and often dominates our own thoughts. So… what can we do about it?

Be still.
Take the time out of your busy day to meditate, think, or journal. God has woven a work/rest rhythm into creation. Find it and live in harmony with it.

Beware.
I hate to be cynical, but everything you see on the internet is not true. 😉 False teachers and snake oil gurus abound. Keep in mind Galatians 5:22-23. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Most of the junk gets exposed when strained through this filter.

Believe.
Truth is not invented – it is discovered. Seek truth and you will find it. Knock on the door of understanding and it will be opened. Ask and you will receive.

Keep pressing toward the mark.
